RESEARCH & WRITING

Research is formalized curiosity. It is poking and prying with a purpose. It is a seeking that he who wishes may know the cosmic secrets of the world and they that dwell therein.

The tendency to utilize transnational organizations (TNO), with the tacit support of transnational institutions such as the European Union, to realize mega projects affecting local populations and territories distant from decision-making boardrooms, may result in increasing democratic alienation between those who are charged with implementing these projects and local citizens.

As mainly women, children and the elderly were fleeing when war broke out in Ukraine, talks attempting to negotiate an end to the conflict were being conducted around tables monopolized by men. This led me to seek out non-EU women who have lived war to hear their stories, ask them what they think about the conflict in Ukraine and whether they believe negotiations might go differently were there more women in the decision-making process. The results of interviews conducted with women from Gaza, Libya, Lebanon, Syria, the Kurdish territory in Turkey and Bosnia will make thought-provoking contributions toward understanding current global challenges and perhaps transform the manner in which we are facing them.
