As co-coordinator of the EU-funded “Our Mediterranean” advocacy campaign, I am pleased to present the final document that was the fruit of 10 months of collaborative work with civil society partners Civitas Institute (Gaza), Mashallah News (Lebanon/France), Maydan Association (Italy) and Réseau Euromed France as well as with collaborators from across Europe and the southern Mediterranean. See “A Roadmap for building a common destiny in the Mediterranean” in three languages (English, Arabic and French). After Marseille, France, the campaign results will be presented in Catania, Italy at the Festival of Mediterranean Citizens in June.

As co-coordinator of the 2019 advocacy campaign “Embracing the Mediterranean means saving Europe”, an appeal to Europeans voters and parliamentary candidates before the EU elections, I co-organized the initiative’s planning and implementation, which included an online petition that obtained more than 5,100 signatures, and the collaboration of the Greater Middle East Platform (Netherlands), the CFCCS (Serbia/Croatia), Efimerida ton Syntakton (Greece), Irenia-Jocs de Pau (Spain), Tadamon – Egyptian Refugee Multicultural Council (Egypt), the National Museums of World Culture (Sweden), the Mediterranean Democratic Institute for Development and Training, the Albanian Forum for the Alliance of Civilization (Albania) and Progetto Mediterranea (Italy).

As manager of the Hurricane Mitch Emergency Relief Effort conducted by Friends of Honduras in autumn 1998, I oversaw public relations, volunteer coordination, fundraising, presentations, transportation and distribution logistics, as well as collecting and shipping more than 60 tonnes of medicine, equipment, food and clothing to Honduras.
